Write a good spec Write a good spec. Every item on a project is its use of a library product. The maker, model and pictures belong to the product, shared by every job that uses it. The quantity, area, finishes and price belong to this item. Where a box shows the library’s words in gray, write this project’s own. Be exact: the fabric and color, the wood and its sheen, what it should match. A vendor can only quote what is written. Saved, this project’s notes come first, with the library product’s words beneath them. Instructions tell the vendor what you expect: shop drawings, labels, checks on site. Insert standard instructions adds your firm’s usual lines. Drop in pictures beside the spec, several at once, and keep the vendor’s documents under Files, each waiting for a yes or a no. All of it goes onto the item’s spec sheet, ready to send, and into the spec book when you issue. That’s a good spec. More videos: portspace.io/videos
